Here is a Rare Antique Jewett Arctic Hamper US Military Surplus Cooler Galvanized Metal Cooler Encased in Cloth Covering with Canvas Flaps and Canvas Lid. Has a date of 1926 on the label, made by Meese Inc. Has 3 leather Straps with buckles at the top. Also has the Original Owner’s Name on back side of the Cooler as well. Measures 22″ x 19″ x 12. It is in Good Condition, some dirt and fuzz accumulation on the cloth covering from being stored, some general wear and staining to the outer canvas covering. It is heavy, weighing approx. Up for sale is a Mint Condition Cronstroms 7up advertising cooler. This cooler is basically NOS new old stock. Does have the odd mark here and there but when you pulled these things out of the box they all did. The gasket has melted a bit over the years of being in storage. I left a bit of the black along the edge. That being said this cooler is probably the best original example around. No repaint or rust. Blow up the pics and take a good look. Its an amazing treasure. Coca-Cola history began in 1886 when the curiosity of an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. He created a flavored syrup, took it to his neighborhood pharmacy, where it was mixed with carbonated water and deemed excellent by those who sampled it… Pembertons partner and bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, is credited with naming the beverage CocaCola as well as designing the trademarked, distinct script, still used today….. This old cooler is a killer piece of advertising from the 1950’s….. After the realization that soda would sell better if it was chilled, Coca Cola retailers wanted to figure out a way to keep them cold, even before the advent of electric coolers….. At first, it was done by using wooden barrel halves, which were filled with ice…. These barrels would have a wooden lid over them and on the sides, would have the Coca Cola logo stenciled on them, just as this cooler does….. This piece is in beautiful shape, despite having some chips and light rust, its very solid and it even has the original tray….. It measures 18 1/2″ by 13″ and it stands 18 tall…..
