Winston Churchill was an avid fan and unwavering client of this champagne brand and is quoted as saying, In victory, deserve it. In defeat, need it! Pol Roger is also the official purveyor of wine to Queen Elizabeth II. It was manufactured by Argit of France, underneath written “Argit France” with 2 stamps. The bucket is about 8 inches tall (20,32 cm) Top diameter of 7 1/2 inches (19.05 cm). It has “Pol Roger” in raised letters on a textured rectangle surrounded by a rope shaped border on two sides. Above and below those rectangles, they are 5 etched lines, creating a wonderful “Art Deco” effect. On each side is a ring handle decorated with a bunch of grapes. They are minor dents and signs of usage as can be expected, but this mid-century pail remains intact, solid and watertight with an authentic aged appeal. This Champagne Cooler can still be used as a receptacle for your bubbly delights, or could be re-purposed as an esquisite planter or vase or even used to hold kitchen utensils.
